AKU's Montera is ideally suited towards long walks on a range of different terrains. Waterproof, grippy and comfortable, it'll provide a snug fit to allow you to forget about your footwear and concentrate on the scenery.
The Montera is one of the most supportive boots available thanks to AKU's Elica technology. AKU's Elica natural stride stystem is a construction which builds on an issue with most boots, the footbed. A footbed which is flat won't provide support and will force your foot to constantly have to stabilise itself, meaning you'll feel achy at the end of the walk (sound familiar?). The way the Elica system works is it follows the natural shape of your foot. The anatomy of your forefoot has been replicated onto the footbed, as well as your arch having support to reduce fatigue over long walks. AKU place a harder, supportive fabric in areas of our foot where we put less weight (for example, the outer of your heel), and a softer, more forgiving fabric on the areas which we place the most weight. This offers the optimum level of support and cushioning for complete comfort.
Michelin rubber is used for the sole, a treat taken from Michelins range of Mountain Bike tyres. This soft yet durable compound provides grip on a range of surfaces and also cushions the boot to increase comfort.
Hand-made in Italy, the Montera has an incredibly high build quality and isn't churned out by a machine somewhere in the depths of China. An elastic construction throughout the collar of the shoe provides a snug fit and adapts to your foot shape and width. Lastly, a Gore-Tex membrane keeps the water out and stops you getting soggy feet through early morning grass.
