Rab have used their own Matrix 2 layer bonded softshell fabric; this robust and high performance fabric provides reliable water and wind resistance in a variety of conditions. Unlike some standard softshells, a stretch nylon face with a polyester grid fleece back is used; the nylon provides strength and increases the lifespan of the jacket, while the grid fleece back creates a more comfortable and warmer experience. This is the perfect softshell jacket for all mountain activites in varied conditions, it'll keep ypou warm and protected in all but the worst conditions. Despite it's fantastic performance the Salvo isn't 100% waterproof, so always a pack a shell jacket if you're venturing into the hills.
To make sure you get full proptection when the weather turns really nasty the Salvo features a fixed abd adjustable hood with a wired peak, the other advantage to having a fixed hood is that the collar comes up nice and high to protect your face. A YKK Vislon front zip with an internal storm flap is durable and reliable, while two zipped hand pockets and a zipped chest pocket provide enough storage for the small essentials not being carried in a pack.
The Salvo jacket can be worn as a lighweight outer over a good base layer for more active pursuits or just as a lightweight everyday jacket. Thanks to its great breathability, it performs equally as well as a light mid layer under a shell when the weather turns really nasty. The built in stretch makes it extremely comfortable to wear and offers unrestricted movement for activies such as climbing, mountaineering, trekking or nordic walking.
Rab have given the Salvo a regular cut meaning it has a relaxed fit with enough room to layer up underneath and will fit a wider variety of people without sacrificing performance.
