The Alfheim 12.6m² cotton bell tent is from the Nordisk Legacy range and introduces todays campers to the delights of sleeping under canvas (literally). This 6 person spacious tent is made using Nordisk Technical Cotton which combines the comfort features of cotton with the strength and lightweight of man made polyester fibres. This fabric is engineered to keep you dry by using a unique process that avoids the addition of performance sapping coatings. By applying a unique Nordisk dipping process breathability is maintained and also allows the natural weatherproofing features of cotton to work. When the fabric gets wet the fibres absorb some of the water and swell, sealing the tent against the rain. Clever sewing and construction techniques further optimise rain safety, so whilst the Alfheim does not have taped seams it is able to withstand heavy and persistent rain. You will experience an excellent interior climate with superb breathability that is completely unlike the normal sweaty and humid interior of synthetic tents; this is especially noticeable in hot conditions or damp muggy days.
A single 2 piece adjustable steel pole supports the roof and allows as much of the interior space to be used as possible and a V shaped pole keeps the doorway upright and open. 'Alfheim' roughly translates to "home of the light elves". Slightly strange, we know, however what that means in normal terms is mesh is lined throughout the top of the tent and in the door to allow extra light inside and to provide additional ventilation when required.
If you chose to use the Teepe without the waterproof floor and want to create a fire, you'll appreciate Nordisk's attention to detail. Simply wander into the inner of the tent, unhook the cord which runs down the centre pole and pull down, this releases the upper fabric and opens up the top of the Alfheim. This can either be to let smoke out or if you just fancy a bit of stargazing.
As an optional extra, you can also add a waterproof zip in groundsheet, at a very good price, to provide full protection from the wet ground and some additional insulation.
