Montane's Alpine Trek Pants are a brilliant all-rounded option for someone wanting to dabble in every activity. Wind and water resistant, super tough, stretchy, comfortable, they exude quality and feel twice their price.
Construction is taken care of by a mix of two fabrics; lightweight, stretchy and breathable Granite Stretch for the main bulk of the trouser, and Cordura panels which are placed throughout the instep of the Alpine Trek Pants to deal with general rubbing, crampon strikes and other trail hazards. The entire trouser is then coated with a durable water repellent coating to keep the wind and light rain off. If the trousers do happen to get soaking wet, the nylon based fabric dries exceptionally quickly and is comfortable even while dripping wet.
As if this super stretchy fabric wasn't comfortable enough, articulation around the knees means you'll never feel restricted while walking, scrambling or even climbing. A brushed polyester is then added to the inner of the waistband to improve comfort even further; this also wicks away sweat and prevents rubbing. Now we're on the topic of the waistband, Montane include a removable lightweight belt and feature elastane in the waist to allow you to get the perfect fit. Other adjustments include a gusset at the lower leg to widen the trouser for larger, high alpine boots.
Pockets wise, you get two mesh lined hand pockets (mesh is brilliant in pockets as if water gets in, it'll drain straight back out rather than drowning your phone), and a thigh pocket, all with reverse coil zips which are smooth to the touch and are less likely to get snagged on brambles and thorns.
