The Wildfire Pro is Salewa's answer to a shoe that does two jobs really, really well. If you often encounter a climb on your hike, or a hike to your climb, the Wildfire Pro's are one of the best choices.
Designed for climbing, scrambling, walking and everyday use, the Wildfire Pro has to be perfect from the ground up. A Vibram Megagrip sole features one of the softest compounds of rubber to grip to wet and dry rock like a piece of gum, yet is aggressive enough for muddy walks to your local crag. A raised heel allows you to descend with confidence, digging into the slop well after other approach shoes have given up.
You may have noticed the strange outer cable design on the heel of the shoe, this not only looks brilliant (in our opinion!) but serves an important purpose. The wire splits into three sections; one part connects to the lacing, the other to the midsole and the last to the upper heel area. As you tension the laces, it pulls the wire on the connecting areas to improve the fit, feel and flexibility of the shoe. If your heel feels a little loose and sluggish, simply pull the laces in and the wire will close the gap on the heel, reducing the liklihood of a blister. Further improving comfort is a soft Ortholite footbed and lacing which stretches all the way down to the toe area to customise the fit in different sections.
Ensuring years of long lasting use is a thick suede leather upper. Not only is leather brilliant at breathing when you're working hard, but is highly abrasion resistant against years of constant abuse. Finally, the inner of the shoe features customisable footbeds depending on your foot shape. If you find you have too much room above your foot or you're doing a lot of walking, stick the thicker of the two footbeds in. If you are struggling for room inside or require a little more sensitivity, the thinner footbed is the one to go for.
