All the benefits of down insulation from a synthetic!? The Mimic Hybrid jacket has a blown-in synthetic insulation that's shape and construction “mimics” that of down insulation.
The Mimic Hybrid Jacket is ideal for wearing as a super warm midlayer or outer layer in milder conditions. Synthetic materials are naturally hydrophobic, meaning they can’t absorb water. In the realms of the Mimic insulation, it means more heat remains trapped, even if the garment gets wet when compared to a down equivalent.
As the warm air gets trapped between the fine filaments of the QuadFusion Mimic insulation, the Pertex outer not only shields you from the wind, it also helps to keep all that nice warm air you have created right where it is needed.
A massive bonus of synthetic insulation is that you don’t have to stick to the strict washing and drying guidelines that come with down garments. This is because Mimic fibres dry relatively quickly and don’t clump, so just wash in Nikwax Tech Wash following the care label instructions and all will be fine.
The Mimic gets its 'hybrid' status by incorporating stretchy fleece in key areas which require further mobility and stretch, making it ideal as a midlayer or outer layer while climbing. Not only does this increase mobility, but also allows the Mimic Hybrid to pack down smaller into your pack, meaning it can be used just as well as an emergency layer on long mountain days. You get this fleece entirely over the arms and down the side of the jacket.
