What is the Aerofoil Jacket?
The Aerofoil is an incredibly lightweight soft shell that provides essential windproof without the bulk for mountainous trails and fast and light alpine sprints. On chillier spring mornings, it also glides gloriously over a fleece for a windproof layer that keeps your toasty, warm air in.
What is the Aerofoil made of?
The Aerofoil is made out of Exolite 45 stretch, a durable, windproof 20D double weave soft shell fabric with a smooth outer to improve abrasion resistance and soft inners to provide all-day next-to-skin comfort. It breathes well and doesn't stick to your skin when you get sweaty, making it perfect for long, warm, windy mountain days.
What are the features?
The Aerofoil features an elastane bound Mountain Hood with rear adjustment, so it can be synched right down on the particularly blustery outings. The zipped Napoleon chest pocket is a great place to stash a phone or a couple of energy gels. To seal out the elements the Aerofoil has elastane bound cuffs and a single hem drawcord, whilst the YKK deep centre front zip provides vital ventilation when you really need it. The Aerofoil also packs down into its own pocket with twin karabiner loops so it can be stashed in a running vest, a small daypack or on a harness.
How does the Aerofoil fit?
The Aerofoil fits into Mountain Equipments 'Active Fit' block, this is the closest fit block that M.E. do - it is trimmed right down to eradicate unwanted weight and bulk. When fitted over lightweight layers it is exceptionally precise and highly tailored. The Aerofoil also has preshaped sleeves making it the perfect layer for those moving fast and light in the mountains.
Where does the Aerofoil fit in the layering system?
The Aerofoil is a super lightweight, windproof softshell (only 100g!) designed to be used as an outer layer on windy, dry days. It will also provide you with a bit of light protection from a light shower (and dries quickly). It can also be worn under a shell when the weather takes a turn for the worst.
