The Aerostat is M.E's take on what the perfect mat should be. With enough tech to even make our heads melt, this sleeping mat has been designed to offer the highest levels of warmth, comfort and durability in a range of conditions.

Being capable of insulating you down to -40°C doesn't come easily, and simply adding more insulation doesn't quite cut it. On the majority of sleeping mats which are insulated with down, the down would simply fall to the one side of the mat (if lying on a slope), leaving one side super toasty and the other cold as the floor. Mountain Equipment very simply but ingeniously twisted the inner baffles like a string of DNA, meaning the down is held in place no matter what the gradient. Speaking of the insulation, M.E use pure duck down with a minimum of 700 fill power, ensuring you're kept as warm as possible without the weight penalty. Surrounding this luxurious down is a tough 30D nylon which will cope with years of abuse.

When it comes to inflating the mat, you can't simply blow into it as the moisture in your breath will eventually rot the down and will negatively impact thermal efficiency, therefore M.E includes a 'Windsock' to inflate the mat. When you blow into the windsock from a slight distance, it draws the dry air in from around you and inflates the mat rapidly and efficiently without introducing moisture inside. This is also hugely beneficial if you're at altitude and the air is particularly thin (you don't want to be blowing up your mat for 10 minutes at 4000 metres).

Inflation is also far different from most other brands. A singular valve is used to inflate and deflate the mat (don't ask how, magic and fairies...). What this means is when you need to inflate the mat or add a little more air, no existing air will escape, and when you need to deflate the mat, the air escapes in one rapid motion, meaning you can pack up and move without having to sit on your mat for 20 minutes.

Weighing just 735g and featuring the ability to go down to polar temperatures, the Aerostat really is in a league of its own. A minimal pack size, exceptional warmth rating and low weight make it the perfect mat for just about anyone who loves cutting-edge kit.

"I first noticed Trekitt by their fantastic YouTube videos, which were very informative and honest. So I headed on over to the website and looked at various coats to try and determine which to go for. Being a bit of a muppet I didn't really have a clue what was best so contacted customer services who directed me to a few coats but said he would go away (over the weekend!) and think some more and get back to me Monday. I thought it was just a fob off as the conversation had been going a while but low and behold on Monday morning an email appears with suggestions! I was so pleasantly surprised that if I hadn't already been convinced to buy with them, it was concreted then. I bought 2 coats from them the same day and very shortly after they appeared. The fit was exactly as they had suggested it would be, the quality of the items was as described and I am very happy with them. In this day and age of large companies taking a backward step from customer service, it is such a breath of fresh air to be treated with such a personal touch. If I ever need anything outdoorsy, I know exactly where I'm going."
