What is the Nanda Devi Jacket?

What is the Nanda Devi made of?
This jacket features a fully waterproof Gore-Tex 3-layer construction with an incredibly durable 75 denier nylon face fabric that has exceptional abrasion resistance and durability. This outer fabric is then coated in a durable water repellent coating to allow water to bead off the surface, increasing breathability. It has a surprisingly supple feel and is breathable enough to cope with high aerobic, non-stop routes.
What are the features?
Starting from the top, the Nanda Devi features a helmet compatible and fully adjustable hood that can be synched down to sit snug to your head when you're not wearing a helmet - and when you don't need the hood at all? Simply roll it away and synch it down with the velcro roll-away tab. Storage wise, the jacket has two generous hand pockets and a chest pocket in the front that all have YKK water-resistant zippers as well as an internal laser cut and laminated chest pocket.
To seal out the elements the jacket features adjustable laminated cuffs, dual tether hem drawcords (that doesn't catch on crampons or ice axes) and a 2-way YKK moulded centre front zip. When you're working hard and you need to dump excess heat quickly you'll appriciate the easy to use 2-way YKK zipped pitzips under each arm. The toggles throughout the jacket are also generous enough to use with chunky gloves on!
How does it fit?
The Nanda Devi uses Mountain Equipments Women's Alpine Fit block. The Alpine Fit has enough room to accommodate a baselayer and a low profile mid-layer. This fit has been designed to reduce the amount of dead space between layers and eliminate excess material resulting in a warmer, lighter-weight jacket.
Where does the Nanda Devi fit in the layering system?
The Nanda Devi is primarily designed as an outer shell, more commonly referred to as a hard shell; which means it works well to protect you from strong winds on cold days, right up to torrential downpours.
