What are the Sigma AR Pants?
The Sigma AR Pant is a hardwearing, technical trouser for cold weather alpine climbing, ice climbing and general mountaineering. They use Arc'tery'x composite mapping to ensure a perfect balance of durability and weight.
What are they made of?
The Sigma's use Arc'teryx's composite mapping, meaning two different weights of fabrics are used depending on how much abuse that area will receive. Arc'teryx's own Burly Double Weave is used in high wear areas such as the instep, while a lighter weight Wee Burly Weave is used for the rest of the trouser. This ensures optimum durability in high wear areas and comfort/breathability in less abused areas. Both of these fabrics offer wind and water resistancy, just in case you get caught out or especially useful while ice climbing.
What are the features?
Arc'teryx supply the Sigma AR's with an adjustable waistbelt which fits comfortably underneath a climbing harness or rucksack hipbelt, harness-friendly zipped hand pockets, one zipped thigh pocket, grommets for installing a gaiter cord and lastly an adjustable cuff on each leg to seal out drafts.
How do they fit?
Arc'teryx place the Sigma's into their 'Trim' fit block with a tapered leg. Despite the trim classification, you've got more than enough room underneath for additional layers, and the lower cuffs feature enough adjustability to allow you to slip them over a ski boot as well as a general walking boot. Full articulation and a 4-way stretch fabric allows you to easily climb or walk without feeling restricted.
