What is the Renegade?
The Renegade 28 is a super lightweight, minimalist pack for technical routes in challenging conditions. Despite its weight of just 600g when stripped back, it offers a high level of comfort and durability.
What is it made of?
The entire bag is made from an ultra-tough 210D 4 Axis Ripstop nylon. As the name of the fabric indicates, this nylon features a Ripstop weave to reduce the chance of holes developing if it happens to wear through. A Hydroshield Dura coating is then applied to the outer fabric to ensure snow, light rain and mist beads off the surface. Needless to say, this fabric has been designed to take a beating. The base of the pack features double-layered pieces of this fabric for extra durability.
What is the backsystem?
Following the ‘minimalist’ theme, the backsystem features a padded, snow-shedding EVA backpanel to prevent items jabbing you in the back, some wide, low-profile shoulder straps and a non-load bearing hipbelt to stop the bag swinging about during use. A spring steel frame sits underneath the foam to give the pack a little rigidity and support, however this can be removed to strip the weight back.
What are the features?
Starting at the top, access into the pack is achieved by a bucket-entry zip; the bag is wider at the top to allow you to literally stuff as much gear in as possible. You get a set of rope-compatible top tensioners, a grab handle which doubles as a haul loop, an extremely water resistant internal pocket for valuables, an external zipped pocket for items you need quick to hand, an internal grab handle, an internal hydration sleeve, a double Headlocker axe attachment system with a pick-retaining panel to hide the tip of the axe safely away, compression straps at the top and bottom of the pack to pull the weight closer to your back or to squash the load then not fully packed, daisy chains to attach extra gear externally and lastly, a key clip.
