Weighing in at a mere 546g, the Interstellar AscentShell Bivy is fully waterproof, versatile and packs down incredibly small making it the go-to bivy choice for adventurers and backpackers where weight and comfort are paramount. The side entry makes getting in and out of your the bivy fast and easy, while innovative zipper design allows you to pack, cook and eat without needing to put your shoes on and step outside!
What is it made of?
Outdoor Research use their AscentShell technology in the Interstellar Bivy. AscentShell uses an electrospun process to create a 3L construction that breathes faster, weighs less and stretches more. It’s made out of 100% nylon. The top of the bivy uses a 20D mechanical stretch ripstop face with 100% polyester 12D backer. The floor in the bivy uses a 40D ripstop with TPU lamination. The Interstellar bivy is fully seam taped ensuring you get the best night’s sleep, no matter the conditions!
What are the features?
The Interstellar bivy has a high volume toe box and comes with a Delrin single pole system that keeps the material of the bivy off your face when your sleeping making for a more comfortable night’s sleep. There is also a large mesh screen that allows you to open up the top of the bivy on a clear, warm night, whilst still protecting you from bugs.
To pin down your bivy when you’re camping at an angle or when the weather is less that favourable, you get a guy line loop and two stake loops, as well as reflective logos and trims so no one trips over your bivy at night. Glow in the dark zipper pulls help you to find your way in/out in the dark whilst a large side opening makes it easy to get into the bivy. The zips on the top of the bivy have a magnitude of different opening options. They can open right out in a sort of ‘clamshell’ opening or you can make use of the 'sombrero design' the allow the bivy to sit comfortably up your back and on top of your head. This means that you can open up the top of the bivy, sit up, cook yourself breakfast and pack up your bag all without having to leave the comfort of your bivy!
