Construction: The secret to theNeoAirXlite'sperformance is the cleverThermaCapture relfetive coating and Over 140 Triangular baffles are arranged in such a way that it essentially created 2 stacked layers of heat reflective baffles. The upper layer of baffles trap the radiant heat given off by your body and reflect it back up and away from the cold ground, while the lower baffles trap the cold air. Due the arrangement of these baffles conductive and convective heat loss is greatly reduced and results in a warm and comfortable night’s sleep without the unnecessary bulk or weight that comes with synthetically filled or down filled mats. Then because there is no filling the whole lot packs down incredibly small. This horizontal baffle construction increases stability and reduces the bounce normally associated with longitudinal baffles.
Valve: The Xlite features Therm-a-Rests new WingLock valve. The WingLock is positioned away from the sleep surface of the mat and has a larger valve opening which allows the pad to inflate three times faster than the classic valve. It features a one way valve design that keeps the air from escaping whilst you’re inflating it. When it’s time to pack up in the morning, open the valve and twist the ‘wings’ to deflate your pad. The Xlite now also includes a pump sack so you can inflate your mat quickly, easily and without getting out of breath!
What is the R-Value?
This mat has an R-Value of 4.2 which in real terms relates to 3 season performance, so it is not suitable for use on snow or frozen ground. R-Values are an international standard of insulation and (in simple terms) indicate the materials ability to reduce heat flow through conduction, radiation or convection. Therefore, the higher the R-Value, the lower the heat transfer and the greater the insulation properties of the material.
