What is the Kyanite LT?
The Kyanite LT is the lighter version of the already well loved Kyanite Hoody. It’s an incredibly versatile, comfortable, stretchy, sleek fleece that works exceptionally well as a layering piece on chilly days or just on its own during the milder months. If you’re looking for that ‘do it all’ piece that will serve you well for years and look fantastic at the same time – then this is one you really ought to consider. I use it as a running jacket in the winter, an evening by-the-campfire piece in the summer, under a shell jacket all year round and as an everyday jacket because it’s so comfortable!
What is it made of?
The fabric in the Kyanite LT is different to its bigger sister the Kyanite – this version uses Torrent – a Polyester/Elastane mix that glides across your skin, hugs your body and is highly durable. It wicks moisture away when you’re working a bit harder and breathes well helping to keep you dry and comfortable. I really can’t emphasise enough just how comfortable next-to-skin this hoody is!
What are the features?
Starting from the top, the Kyanite LT has a low profile hood that keeps you head toasty and sits nicely underneath a helmet, should you so choose. Two zippered hand pockets sit out the way of a harness line so you can stash bits in there and not worry about them digging into your hips. The Kyanite also features Merrow stitching though out the jacket – this stitching doesn’t chafe but is also stretchy so moves with you.
How does it fit?
The Kyanite LT features Arc’teryx ‘Trim Fit’ cut – this fit block sits closer than their ‘Regular’ cut. This is to help wick moisture away from your body but also helps to eliminate excess material.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
The more appropriate question would be – where doesn’t the Kyanite fit in the layering system? You can wear it on its own on chilly, still days. You can layer it up under a shell or insulating jacket in the winter. Due to it being so comfortable next to your skin, on polar expeditions in the extreme cold you could even wear it as a base layer! It really is a great do-it-all piece!
