What is the Klondike?
The Klondike is a spacious, tough and breathable tent designed to shelter up to 6 people when weight isn't so much a priority, but comfort and livability is.
What is it made of?
The entire tent is made from a super breathable, tough and weather-resistant HydroTex fabric — a mix of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. Although we dissuade the use of cotton next to skin as it soaks up moisture, it's exactly the reason it works so well in the Klondike. When the fabric gets wet, the fibres swell and create a barrier against the wind and rain.
The groundsheet uses a more weather-resistant 210T Oxford polyester fabric to ensure you, and your kit, stays dry over extended periods of time. If you're using the tent in warmer weather or are looking to save a little weight, the floor can be unzipped and removed.
What are the features?
Access into the tent is achieved via a huge vertical door which can be folded back when not in use. Protective eaves run around the circumference of the tent to shelter the doors, walls and vents from rain. While we're on the subject of vents, the Internal Apex Vent Control system allows you to open and close a large roof vent via a pulley which runs down the centre pole. As well as the groundsheet being able to zip out entirely, it can be unzipped to the centre pole from the door, providing a safe space to cook or store muddy kit. Other useful features include guyline retainers to keep everything neat and tidy when packing away and windows which feature mosquito-proof nets, providing ventilation in warmer conditions.
