We hope that you are perfectly happy with your order from Trekitt, but we understand that you may want to return your purchase. We offer a 90 days return period from the date of purchase, and endeavour to process all returns within 48 hours of receipt.

We do not offer a free returns service. Therefore, all customers are responsible for any postage costs when returning any goods (excluding warranty returns).

Exemptions
PPE (Facemasks, Climbing Equipment etc. ), Food Goods, Socks & Underwear can only be returned if they have not been worn and/or removed from their original packaging with all swing tags still attached. If there is any sign or possibility that the goods have been used, tampered with or contaminated in any way, then we cannot accept a return on the grounds of consumer safety. Zips are typically not covered under a manufacturer's warranty.

What is the Crater Pro?

The Crater Pro is an uncompromising, ultra-tough, feature-packed hardshell sporting the fully waterproof and windproof Gore-Tex Pro Most Rugged membrane. It's designed to provide protection during virtually any mountain activity, from technical scrambling to trekking. 

What is it made of?

The Crater uses the ever-reliable and highly protective Gore-Tex Pro Most Rugged throughout. This is constructed from three parts; a super tough nylon outer fabric, a waterproof membrane and an inner fabric. The outer fabric acts as a suit of armour, resisting abrasion and repelling rain/snow, the membrane inside provides total waterproof, windproof and breathable protection and the inner sandwiches the membrane, protecting it from general wear and tear. Both the inner and outer fabrics are spun-dyed, meaning the dyeing takes place during the spinning process, reducing energy consumption and making it a more environmentally conscious option. The 'Most Rugged' part indicates that this is the most durable, protective and long-lasting variant of Gore-Tex Pro available. 

What are its features?

Starting at the top, you've got a helmet-compatible hood which fits just as snugly without a helmet thanks to vertical and horizontal adjustment. Moving down, a two-way front zip allows you to access a climbing harness or ventilate easily, while underarm vents dump heat quickly and effectively when you're sweating heavily. Storage is taken care of by two front pockets which sit high to avoid clashing with a climbing harness and an internal zipped pocket for valuables. As usual, there are velcro cuffs and an adjustable hem to seal out the elements. 

A standout feature of the Crater is Mammut Connect. Simply download the app, scan the Connect logo on the jacket and the warranty will be extended to 5 years, along with a page which gives you an overview of the technology in your new piece of kit. You can also use the app to log your adventures and share them with friends.

How does it fit?

It features Mammut's 'regular' fit, meaning it's designed to allow you to fit essential layers underneath, yet isn't so big and baggy that you've got excess fabric flapping around in the wind. The arms are articulated to give you greater freedom of movement while climbing or using walking poles.

Care and maintenance

To keep your outdoor clothing and equipment in tip top condition and performing to its maximum we recommend the use of Nikwax products. We have been using Nikwax products since day one (26th March 1986) and have found them to be totally reliable, dependable and effective. Today’s Nikwax treatments contain environmentally friendly elastic water-repellent polymers that bond to fabric fibres, leaving the spaces between open and breathable. These stretchy polymers are able to stretch and move with the fabric so they stay put for longer and work better.

Nikwax treatments will not change the look or feel of the fabric and they are all water based, environmentally safe, non-flammable and contain no nasty Fluorocarbons. Nikwax products can be used to clean, re-proof and revitalise all your outdoor technical clothing and equipment.

Waterproof breathable clothing has a durable water-repellent (DWR) finish applied to the face fabric during the manufacturing process. The DWR forces water to bead up and roll off the surface therefore preventing the fabric from absorbing moisture. If the outside of your jacket is soaked in a layer of cold water, the warm damp air within can’t escape and will condense on the inside. This makes the jacket feel cold clammy and can make you think that it’s leaking. The DWR finish is not permanent and needs to be maintained and revitalised to optimise performance.

This three layer waterproof jacket should be cleaned regularly with Nikwax Tech Wash; I wash my jacket about once a month, or more often if it gets really filthy. Regular washing with Tech Wash will maintain the DWR for longer and remove salts and oils that can contaminate the fabric, and it will keep your lovely jacket clean and smelling fresh. Washing can be done in a machine according to the manufacturers care guidelines (on the internal label). First clean out any detergent and conditioner residue from the machine dispenser and then add the required amount of Tech Wash and away you go. Hand washing is also suitable but be sure to rinse the garment well.

When you notice that rain/water is no longer beading up and rolling off it’s time to re-proof. Nikwax TX Direct will re-instate a long lasting DWR to completely rejuvenate your jacket. Re-proofing can also be done in the machine once a garment has been washed. Just add the TX-Direct and use the same programme you used for washing. You can also use the spray-on product on a damp garment that has just been washed.

You wouldn’t buy a Ferrari and never have it serviced, so make sure you regularly wash and re-proof your quality kit.
