What are the Kinesis Base Pants?
These are amongst some of the warmest baselayer trousers in existence and will add massive amounts of warmth to your overall layering system, whether they're worn under hardshell or softshell trousers. Not only are they incredibly warm, but tougher than your average baselayers and will last for years of regular use.
What are they made of?
The key to their warmth is a mixture of two fabrics: HeliumAP and Octayarn Warp-knit. HeliumAP is a wind-resistant, stretchy and breathable fabric; Mountain Equipment use this on the thigh, knee and seat in the Kinesis to add extra durability. The rest of the trouser is made using Octayarn Warp-knit, a super-soft, almost blanket-like fabric which offers high amounts of warmth in sub-zero conditions. The fibres which make up the fabric are designed to pull sweat away from your skin, allowing it to evaporate.
What are their features?
You've got two hand pockets, an elasticated waist with a drawcord and a gusseted crotch for extra comfort and mobility.
Where do they fit in the layering system?
They're designed to be worn under a pair of hardshell or softshell trousers in super cold conditions. We wouldn't recommend wearing them on their own.
