What is the VR Summit Jacket?
The VR Summit is a reincarnation of Rab's old Vapour-Rise range, however, this time around it's lighter, more breathable and more comfortable than ever. Essentially, the Summit is perfect for activities where you require the highest level of breathability with the warmth and weather protection to keep you comfortable in changeable conditions.
What is it made of?
Sitting on the outside of the VR Summit is a Pertex Quantum Air fabric. This is the most breathable variant of Quantum and allows a little air to pass through to cool you down when you're working hard. The hot air inside the jacket is replaced with small amounts of cool air, keeping you at a constant, comfortable temperature. This fabric also features a durable water repellent coating, so it'll resist showers if you get caught out.
Inside you'll find a super-soft brushed lining which is designed to wick away sweat and offer warmth in cold conditions. As well as this, it's just really comfortable and feels nice next to skin.
What are its features?
Up top you've got a helmet-compatible hood with a drawcord at the back to fine-tune the fit and a stiffened peak to keep the rain and snow away from your face. Moving down there are two strategically placed hand pockets which sit out the way of a climbing harness or rucksack hipbelt and a single zipped chest pocket. An adjustable hem and cuffs allow you to trap heat or conversely ventilate when you require greater breathability.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
Thanks to its incredible breathability, the VR Summit can either be used as a super-breathable outer layer when moving quickly or a warm midlayer when wearing a shell over the top.
