What is the Leki Wanderfreund Makalu?
The Wanderfreund is a super simple, tough and reliable pole made from aluminium and featuring Leki's brilliant Speed Lock 2 adjustment system. It's perfect for general walking and less-strenuous outdoor activities.
What is it made of?
It's made primarily of aluminium, making the pole tough, lightweight and dependable. The total weight of this pole is just 277g, to give you some context.
What are its features?
Starting at the top, the Wanderfreund gets an Aergo Med grip; a t-shaped handle with a rubber grip which provides a comfortable, secure surface to grab onto. A wrist loop provides further security and keeps the pole in place on rougher terrain.
Adjustment of the pole is now quicker and easier than ever thanks to Leki's Speed Lock 2 system. Simply undo the quick release lever, adjust the pole to the desired length and push the lever back down. It's 30% smaller, 25% lighter and 20% stronger than previous versions.
Included with the pole is a tough rubber tip — this protects the carbide tip on hard surfaces and provides added shock absorption.
