What is the WarmCube Featherless Hoody?The WarmCube Featherless is a synthetically insulated jacket utilising Marmot's new and innovative WarmCube construction and recycled outer fabrics. It's designed to provide bucket loads of warmth no matter what the weather is doing, making it ideal for belaying, as a super-warm jacket to stick on when eating lunch/making navigation stops or as an active piece in sub-zero temperatures or at altitude.
What is it made of?Insulation: So, as the name suggests, the WarmCube is completely featherless. Marmot use a mixture of two different synthetic insulation types: 3M Thinsulate and PrimaLoft Silver. 3M Thinsulate provides a similarly lofty, warm and packable feel as down and PrimaLoft Silver provides extra protection, resulting in a jacket which feels a lot like your traditional down jacket, yet doesn't suffer from the same negative effects when wet. As impressive as this is, it pales in comparison to the way the insulation is distributed around the jacket. Turn the jacket inside out and you'll see plenty of cubes which are all full of insulation. The cubes are spaced a little apart from each other to create channels; when you put the jacket on, these channels close up and seal in warmth. When the jacket is unzipped, the channels open to allow greater ventilation... clever, right? These cubes also prevent the insulation moving around, keeping it securely in place and preventing cold spots forming over time.
Fabrics: Fabrics: Surrounding all of this toasty insulation is a fully recycled Pertex Quantum ripstop nylon fabric. This fabric is highly water-resistant, wind-resistant, tough and lightweight, making it the ideal all-rounder for this versatile jacket.
What are its features?You've got an insulated hood with plenty of adjustment to seal it around your face in cold conditions, internally elasticated cuffs which seal snugly around your wrists to trap warmth, two large zipped hand pockets, an internal zipped pocket for a phone or other essentials and lastly an adjustable hem drawcord. You've got everything you need and nothing you don't!
Where does it fit in the layering system?This jacket is primarily designed as an outer layer. It's designed to go over your other layers in super cold conditions or when stationary to provide additional warmth. Due to its slim fit, you will be able to fit a shell over the top if it's really chucking it down.
How does it fit?The WarmCube Featherless fits into Marmot's 'athletic fit' category, meaning it sits more snugly than their average insulated jacket. This makes it more efficient at trapping warmth in sub-zero temperatures.
