What is the Active Skin 8 Set?Inspired by professional athletes, the Active Skin 8 Set is a super-comfy pack designed for fast-paced adventures. It provides easy hydration and more freedom of movement with soft fabrics, an easy closure system and accessible storage. It’s the ideal pack for fast and light mountain adventures like trail running, fastpacking and day hikes, where comfort and manoeuvrability are paramount.
What is the Skin 8 made of?The Active Skin 8 is made predominantly from Polyamide and Polyester, with a little bit of elastane in the side and front stash pockets. This is because Polyamide and Polyester not only offer excellent abrasion resistance and durability but also dry exceptionally well if you do happen to get caught out by the elements.
What is the back system?The backsystem in the Active Skin 8 uses Salomons 3D comfort system – this basically means that the entire pack sits as close to your body as possible to enhance the overall support of the pack and ensure that the pack moves with you whilst you’re running. The 3D Air Mesh is used throughout the backsystem and is a very soft three-dimensional mesh that adapts to the body without abrasion to skin or tee shirt. This construction incorporates small cavities which allow enhanced air circulation and breathability.
What are the features?The Skin 8 Set has been cleverly designed so you can access the majority of your kit quickly and without taking off your entire pack. Firstly, let’s look at the pockets – The main back compartment is compatible with a 1.5-litre water bladder, should you wish to go out for longer adventures. It even has a little sewn-in exit-port for your hydration tube. The main compartment has a huge zippered opening that goes right down the side of the pack, so you can quickly access bit in the bottom of your pack, without needing to unload the lot. If you prefer bottles, two included 500ml softflasks which live in the front of the shoulder straps make it easy to hydrate on the go. As well as the stretchy bottle pockets, below those, you also get two stretch mesh pockets which are a great place to stash extra snacks – the one on the left-hand side has a little zippered security pocket which is a great place to pop your keys. As if that storage wasn’t enough, you also get an elasticated bungee system on the front of the pack that can be synched down to securely hold extra items – like a lightweight shell jacket.
