What is the Vidda Pro Jacket?

What is the Vidda Pro made of?
Almost all of this jacket is made from Fjallraven's own G-1000 Eco. Unlike most other outdoor manufacturers who use nylons and polyesters, Fjallraven primarily use their tried and tested mix of cotton and polyester in their outdoor clothing. This simple mix creates a fabric which is extremely hardwearing, virtually windproof, water resistant and comfortable. You can wax it to add more water and wind resistancy, or leave it unwaxed for maximum breathability. The 'Eco' part comes down to the fact that Fjallraven use recycled polyester and organic cotton. And if all of that isn't enough to entice you, it'll age brilliantly and features a timeless design which has barely changed since the 80's.
What are the features?
Starting at the top, you get an adjustable hood to offer additional warmth and protection, a two-way front zip to ventilate or answer the call of nature, 8 total pockets which allow you to store all the essentials without carrying a rucksack, gear loops in the lower front pocket to allow you to secure a knife, gloves or other equipment, and an adjustable hem and buttoned cuffs to seal out the cold. Lastly and rather cleverly, Fjallraven avoid placing seams on the shoulders as this could chafe when wearing a heavy rucksack.
How does it fit?
The Vidda Pro features a roomy, comfortable fit which should suit just about anyone as long as it's sized correctly. The arms and body are fairly long (the Swedes are a tall bunch), and there's loads of room in the shoulders and arms for movement.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
The Vidda Pro is designed to be worn as your outer layer; to be thrown over the top of other layers when cold, wet or windy. Please note, this jacket isn't waterproof, so if it's truly bucketing it down then we'd opt for a shell instead or over the top.
