What is the Prism Ultra Pull-On?
The Prism Ultra is aimed squarely at those moving quickly in mountainous environments. It weighs just 200g, packs down to its own chest pocket and features an ultra lightweight PrimaLoft Silver recycled insulation.
What is it made of?
Insulation: The Prism features 25g/sqm of PrimaLoft Silver insulation. This isn't just any old PrimaLoft insulation though, as 75% of it is recycled, making it a brilliant choice for performance as well as the environment. PrimaLoft is a fully synthetic insulation, meaning it'll still maintain the majority of its warmth, even if it gets soaking wet.
Fabrics: Surrounding this versatile insulation is Montane's own Barrier Lite RS fabric. This features a ripstop construction and a durable water repellent coating to increase weather-resistance. This, coupled with the lightweight insulation allows the Prism to pack down to a size not much bigger than an apple.
What are its features?
This is a fairly minimalist piece, so it isn't loaded with features, but you do still get some creature comforts. Up top, there's a close-fitting collar which keeps the wind off your neck. Moving down, you've got a two-way front zip which can be unzipped from the bottom for greater ventilation. A zipped chest pocket keeps things safe such as a phone, keys or snacks, while pre-elasticated cuffs and an adjustable hem seal in the warmth. Lastly, as mentioned above, it packs into its own chest pocket for compact storage.
How does it fit?
It features a slim, tapered fit overall but still has enough room in the shoulders and back to allow complete freedom of movement. If you'd prefer a roomy, loose fit, this possibly isn't the piece for you.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
This is primarily designed as an outer layer when moving quickly and producing a lot of heat, but you could wear it as a super warm midlayer with a shell over the top in particularly horrendous conditions.
