What is the Protium Hoodie?
The Protium is a tough, comfortable and reliable fleece hoodie which is perfect as either a warm layering piece or lightweight outer layer when climbing, walking or fastpacking.
What is it made of?
The Protium uses Montane's Thermo Grid fleece fabric to provide comfort, stretch and protection while you're out and about. A brushed inner wicks away sweat and feels super comfortable next to skin if you're wearing a short sleeved baselayer.
What are the features?
Starting at the top, you've got a snug hood which is designed to fit underneath a climbing helmet, while further down an external zipped chest pocket stores a phone, keys or snacks. You'll notice there aren't any hand pockets; this is to allow you to wear a climbing harness or rucksack hipbelt without the unforcomfortable sensation of a zip digging into your hip. Further increasing comfort are flatlocked seams and low-profile cuffs and hem — again, to fit comfortably underneath other layers or a rucksack.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
It can either be used as a warm midlayer or a lightweight outer layer when the weather is on your side.
