What is the Shroud Hooded Jacket?
The Shroud is a warm, stretchy, comfortable fleece made using a clever combination of Cycloknit and Pontetorto Technostretch. It's perfect for active use in cold conditions, whether you're climbing, mountaineering or ski touring.
What is it made of?
The main bulk of the fleece is made of Mountain Equipment's own Cycloknit fabric, a wind-resistant, warm and stretchy fabric that feels a lot like a fleece on the inside but a softshell on the outside. Areas of the jacket that require greater breathability and mobility have been given a lighter weight Pontetorto Technostretch — this reduces the overall bulk of the fleece but also makes it more comfortable to wear. Both Cycloknit and Techostretch are made using recycled polyester, which is just a nice little addition to an already great jacket.
What are its features?
It's a pretty simple thing that's mainly focused on warmth and mobility, but you do get some creature comforts in the form of an elasticated hood to add warmth, two zipped hand pockets and one chest pocket.
How does it fit?
It features Mountain Equipment's 'active fit', meaning it sits pretty snug to maximise performance. The stretchy nature of the fabric means it never feels restrictive, but don't expect it to fit like an old woolly-pulley.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
Thanks to the super breathable and wind-resistant Cycloknit fabric, the Shroud will work as either a midlayer or an outer layer depending on the conditions.
