What is the R2 TechFace Hoodie?
The R2 TechFace Hoodie is a warm, durable softshell hoodie with a versatile design, making it perfect for virtually any activity in changeable conditions. It's comfy, stretchy and so adaptible that you could wear it for casual daily errands too!
What is it made of?
The main body of this hoodie is made using gridded, breathable and stretchy R2® TechFace double weave with a soft backer, which comprises recycled polyester and spandex. The contrasting panels of this jacket use a plain-weave fabric with the same yarns. These durable materials are bluesign® approved and provide ample protection for exploring rugged environments without compromising comfort and breathability.
bluesign® approval means this product is manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
The material is impregnated with a PFC-free durable water repellent (DWR), which increases its water resistance and encourages light rain and snow to bead away.
Perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) used in earlier DWRs can't 'break down', so once they reach nature (usually via water waste from factories), they stay out in the environment and contaminate living organisms, working their way up the food chain. PFCs are suspected carcinogens and have been known to affect reproduction and hormone production in mammals. For these reasons, many brands are now using PFC-free alternatives to reduce the impact manufacturing has on our beautiful planet.
This product is also made in a Fair Trade Factory™, giving Patagonia more control of the operations in the factories they choose to work with. Patagonia proudly offers more Fair Trade styles than any other apparel brand in the current market. But how does it work? Patagonia pays a premium for every item made in one of these factories, and this money goes directly to the factory workers. A democratically elected committee of Fair Trade workers will decide how this extra money gets spent in each Fair Trade factory. The program also promotes worker health and safety, and social and environmental compliance, while encouraging healthier dialogue between workers and management.
What are its features?
A scuba-style hood protects the head, ears and neck, shielding you from that icy breeze when exploring above the tree line.
Multiple zipped pockets make room for storing essentials such as snacks, keys, a wallet, or doggy bags for your furry friend. Pockets are also harness-compatible, ensuring total accessibility when climbing and mountaineering.
Cuffs feature a passive adjustment system, stretching and securing themselves around the arms and wrists. Passive adjusters are a great alternative to bulky Velcro patches, as they help minimise volume, making it easier to add layers over the top.
