What are the Atomic Pants?
The Atomic Pants from Montane are lightweight, comfortable, packable and versatile waterproof trousers for walking, trekking and general hill use. The Pertex Shield fabric offers the perfect balance of durability and weight.
What are they made from?
The outer of the trouser features a durable 40 Denier fabric which resists general wear and tear yet also packs down to a fraction of its original size when not in use; underneath this Montane supply you with a reliable Pertex Shield waterproof membrane. Pertex Shield is super light, packable, breathable and obviously, fully waterproof! Every seam is then taped to fully seal out the elements in the worst conditions. Another nice features is that unlike most waterproof overtrousers, the inner fabric of the Atomic Pants is soft, comfortable and dry to the touch, meaning they can be worn next to skin as well as over standard walking trousers.
What are the features?
Improving the fit and adjustability of the trousers is an elasticated waist with an adjustable drawcord. Further down, you get 3/4 length YKK zips on each leg to make getting the trousers on and off that much easier (especially in foul weather), while velcro tabs on the calf allow you to adjust the overall volume of the trouser. A press stud on each ankle seals the Atomic Pants around your boots and limits the amount of water and gunk getting in. Lastly, you get reflective detailing for safety purposes.
How do they fit?
They fit extremely similarly to your traditional pair of waterproof trousers, but with the additional benefit of the velcro adjusters to limit overall volume. They feature a relaxed, fairly straight fit most of the way down, allowing you to fit them over additional layers easily without restriction. Articulated knees and a diamond crotch gusset improve the fit and mobility even further.
