What are the Phantom Tech? The Phantom Tech is one of the most versatile options out of the exceptional Phantom range. Crafted by those who live, work, and play in the mountains, the Phantom is designed for winter mountaineering, mixed climbing, ice climbing or simply hanging around at high altitude. Trust us, the Phantom Tech is the boot you’ll want to do it all in.
What are they made of?Membrane: The membrane used in the Phantom Tech is called HDry™. Thanks to the HDry™ quality standard, the shoes built with this system possess the highest level of waterproofness, breathability, and insulation. The waterproof and breathable membrane is firmly laminated to the upper inner side and there are no seams and no gaps where water can penetrate: rain and cold are blocked on the shoe’s outer surface and a large volume of dry air keeps your feet warm and comfortable. The ultra-thin waterproof membrane and the unique lamination method provides a precise fit and keep your shoes dry and light all day.
Insulation: As you would expect, a high-altitude boot has to be warm enough to deal with almost polar-like temperatures. The inner layer of the Phantom uses a Primaloft 100 insulation layer and incorporates Primaloft Silver yarns, increasing the warmth and breathability. Primaloft is one of the warmest forms of insulation due to the densely woven construction of the fabric; therefore, it can trap more heat than an alternative insulation with a looser construction.
Insole: The Phantom Techs use a Carbon Fibre insole for added rigidity and durability without compromising on weight and comfort.
What are the features?Waterproof Gaiter: The new waterproof gaiter design uses PU Tek technology to create a lightweight but extremely durable outer with a high degree of dexterity and feel, while also helping to reduce the overall weight by 110g, making the Phantom Tech the lightest boot in its class.
Dynamic Tech Roll: The Phantom Tech uses an innovative upper and sole construction system to obtain an ergonomic fit and maximum performance synergy. The Dynamic Tech Roll system combines multiple innovative and light materials, enhancing comfort, performance and ensuring optimum anti-torsion efficiency.
AC Sole: The new sole unit on the Phantom uses AC Tech roll (derived from the Ribelle family) to give increased cushioning and a more precise feel underfoot, with a new TPU crampon insert and carbon tech 3 SL midsole for a perfect synergy with the latest C3 automatic crampons.
What last does the Phantom Tech use?Scarpa use their NAG Last in the Phantom range, a last tried and tested on Mont Blanc. 50 years of knowledge from Scarpa have gone into this design. This last features a technical, precise shape, lower volume, slightly narrower than average, with a pointier and tapered toe box shape to ensure you’re confident in your footing, even with chunky crampons on.
