What is the X Ultra 4?The X Ultra range has had a bit of a face lift for the 2021 season! We’ve stocked the Salomon X Ultra range for years as we truly believe it’s one of the best all round hiking shoes on the market – and the 4th generation is even more impressive! It is a lightweight, supportive, comfortable and fully waterproof shoe which is perfectly suited to long days in the hills as well as casual strolls through the countryside. These shoes feature a protective toecap and protective mud guard, which mean you’ll feel confident no matter what terrain you choose to adventure on.
What is it made of?Upper: The material used in the Upper of the X Ultra 4 is a tough, breathable synthetic material that provides great durability and protection for outdoor activities. The construction in the upper of the shoe features ‘Active Support’ - these mobile wings help hold the foot in place and accompany its movement, adapting to its shape and volume.
Membrane: This techy upper is backed by a Gore-Tex membrane, providing full waterproof protection to the entire shoe. A special treatment is then applied to provide extra protection, ensuring that the fabric does not absorb water during light rain and showers.
Lining: The help move moisture away from your foot, the X Ultra 4’s feature a soft, breathable mesh and textile lining for extreme day-long comfort.
Midsole: Salomon use their EnergyCell EVA foam inside the X Ultra 4 to provide cushioning and shock-absorption.
Footbed: Molded to match the contours of your foot, the OrthoLite insole provides superior cushioning, as well as breathability and durability, to upgrade the comfort and performance of the shoe.
Outsole: The Outsole in the X Ultra 4 is Salomon’s Contagrip MA. This is built for the widest variety of surfaces. It balances both the geometry and the rubber compound to deliver confidence on wet, dry, hard or loose surfaces, and offer long-term durability. The Chevron Lug design offers deep penetration and multi-directional grip, improving traction on soft surfaces like mud or loose dirt.
What are the features?ADV-C Chassis: Protecting ankle articulations on the outer foot, this chassis provides extra stability while also keeping the front of the shoe flexible for a more fluid ride.
Gusseted tongue: The tongue is connected to the upper on both sides, preventing debris from entering the shoe, and keeping the tongue centred.
SensiFit: SensiFit cradles the foot from the midsole to the lacing system, providing a secure, snug, and virtually customized fit all around the foot.
Welded upper: Stitch-free upper construction provides a smooth, glove-like, fit and feel.
Protective mudguard: A wrap of rubber around the base of the foot that protects the lateral and medial sides of the foot.
Quicklace: Minimalistic and strong lace for one-pull tightening. Easy-on, easy-off. Once tightened the lace can then be rolled up and stashed in the lace pocket on the tongue of the shoe.
