The Vaude Power Lizard SUL (Silicone-Ultra-Light) 1-2 Person tent offers a comfortable sleeping area for one to two persons, a covered storage/cooking area and high quality materials in a package that weighs just over 1kg. Despite its minimal weight the Power Lizard is a tough little tent capable of withstanding strong winds and heavy rain.
The transverse hoop design provides exceptional stability in bad weather and good head height so that you can actually sit up in the doorway to cook or just chill out and enjoy the view after a hard day out in the hills. The flysheet of the Lizard is made from Vaude's own specially constructed silicone nylon. The fabric is coated on both sides with silicone to provide a high tear strength, complete waterproofing and high UV resistance. The UV resistance is especially important in mountain environments where the high levels of UV can seriously damage fabrics, making them brittle and fragile after prolonged exposure. The coating also helps rainwater to bead up and roll off the fabric more easily so when you come to pack up simply shake the flysheet dry to keep the packed weight to a minimum.
Vaude have also developed a unique method to seam-seal the seams of the flysheet, this feature is only available in Vaude tents as it is incredibly difficult to do due to the nature of the silicone coating. The combination of the silicone coating and the unique seam sealing process gives the lightweight flysheet a hydrostatic head of 3000mm (the standard for waterproof is 1500mm). A tough laminated nylon groundsheet provides waterproof protection with a Hydrostatic head of 10000mm.
The inner tent is made from a lightweight and breathable 15D micro-ripstop nylon and features a large door opening so two can sit side by side and there are mesh panels to aid ventilation.
The single lightweight 7001 T6 7.5mm alloy pole is held in place with Vaude's Powerframe system, this offers increased stability and security in high winds and makes pitching incredibly easy. Two ultralight poles act to support the ends of the Lizard and ensure good internal head and foot space.
The Lizard offers a roomy shelter for solo adventurers but two can squeeze in if you really want to carry the minimum weight between you.
