Roland Tyson, the founder of Sea to Summit, started his journey in 1983, making outdoor gear on an old industrial sewing machine in his childhood bedroom at the age of 17. As a young outdoor enthusiast, Roland realised his passion and talent for creating cutting-edge outdoor equipment. He began designing and manufacturing equipment for other Australian adventurers. His drive to design the best, lightest, and most durable equipment took him further into the remote Australian outback and eventually into the Himalayas, where he put his inventions to the ultimate test.

In 1991, after outfitting an unusual first ascent of Mt Everest, Sea to Summit was born. Since then, Sea to Summit has been providing adventurers with the best equipment for their outdoor activities, including sleeping bags, sleeping mats, camping and cooking utensils, dry bags, pots, and pans.
