What are the Zionic Waterproof Hiking Shoes?
They're lightweight hiking/ trail running shoes that perfectly balance speed, stability, and comfort. Made from recycled materials with a springboard rebound cushioning sole, they will propel you further, faster with every step. Durable and lightweight, they're ideal for various trail adventures across the seasons when you want to move fast and light in the mountains.
What are they made from?
The upper is created from a ripstop performance mesh material that is lightweight and breathable. It has strategically placed TPU overlays for reinforcement, increasing the shoe's overall durability, making them more suitable for rugged, rocky terrain. This durable and breathable upper is made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic made from recycled plastic bottles, for excellent eco credentials, without compromising on performance.
A quick-dry lining feels smooth and comfortable, and as you may have already guessed, it dries out quickly should it get wet or if your feet are getting a little sweaty on warmer days.
The insole is made from air-injected Luftcell PU and has built-in arch support for comfort and long-lasting cushioning under the foot.
TPU outsoles provide high traction and grip across various surfaces. They're light yet robust enough to withstand a good beating from long hikes or multi-day treks.
A KEEN.dry membrane offers reliable waterproof protection for wet weather yet is still highly breathable to promote temperature regulation and help stop your feet from feeling clammy if it's humid - perfect for the unpredictable UK conditions!
Materials are also treated with an Eco Anti-Odour treatment for odour control and a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent), which encourages light rain and snow to bead off the outer materials so they don't get soaked through. PFC-free treatments are much more eco-friendly than conventional DWRs as they don't use per- or poly-fluorinated chemicals that cause harm to the environment.
What are their features?
The Zionic Shoes have been created with Keen's new athletic fit, which still offers their iconic wide toe box to allow your feet to splay out naturally as you walk. However, the overall design has a contoured athletic profile for better support while moving fast.
These lightweight trail shoes feature a cushioned Achilles pad for comfort and strategically placed TPU overlays for added durability and abrasion resistance for protection against rugged rocky terrain.
A full-length stability plate provides support for tackling uneven terrain, whilst a lightweight, high-energy foam air-injected Luftcell PU midsole delivers responsive cushioning and lasting comfort. These two midsole components work together with every step to create a springboard effect underfoot, propelling you further and faster, reducing fatigue.
The Zionic shoes feature a nimble tread with an aggressive but low-profile lug pattern created from high-traction TPU for lightweight durability. This tread provides better contact with the ground, allowing you to hike faster confidently. It's great for both up and downhill grip but is better suited to rocky and uneven terrain in varied conditions, than deep muddy environments (like the UK countryside in winter).
The shoes are finished with a quick-dry lining and Keen's Eco Anti-Odour Control to keep your shoes smelling box fresh and pleasant for longer without the use of harmful pesticides. This eco-conscious technology uses naturally occurring probiotics and electrostatically connects them to the shoe linings to prevent bacteria from developing, leading to unwanted odours.
