What are the Mutants?
They're incredibly stable and versatile trail running shoes specially designed for high-performance comfort and stability on varied technical terrain. They're ideal for medium-long runs on soft and muddy off-road paths, mountain routes and woodland trails.
What are they made from?
Upper: The upper is made from a highly breathable abrasion-resistant mesh with an integrated gaiter to stop literally irritating grit, stone and dirt from getting into your trainers whilst running.
Lining: The Mutants are lined with a non-slip mesh for breathability and comfort and to help stop your socks from slipping down when running on steep uneven terrain.
Laces: The laces are created from 100% recycled materials and use Fusion gate technology to connect the laces to the midsole. The laces connect to lacing cords caged between mesh and high-frequency welded TPU, helping you dial in a secure and stable fit by reducing any extra volume across the whole of the shoe.
Midsole: The midsole is made from an injected MEMlex EVA that's solid yet squishy enough to absorb shock on solid ground. EVA can regain its shape well and provides fantastic cushioning under the foot to help improve comfort on longer trails.
Sole: For traction, The Mutant's use La Sportiva's most sticky rubber, FriXion White. The outsole has a deep and aggressive 6.5mm lug pattern for easily tackling wet and muddy terrain. FriXion White has been specifically designed to be super sticky and provide exceptional levels of grip, making for an excellent trail running shoe that can tackle any terrain and help you to move fast in the mountains.
What are their features?
The Mutants are adorned with super cool graphics that are inspired by the surrounding topography of La Sportiva's headquarters in Val di Fiemme.
A Spyral Tongue combines the advantages of quick-fitting shoes with a traditional tongue and the protective features of a shoe with an integrated gaiter that avoids contact with stones and mud, stopping them from entering your shoe whilst running.
The lacing system is integrated into the shoe's upper, connecting the laces right down to the midsole. It uses FusionGate technology with high-density reinforcements to allow you to regulate inner volume and the level of adherence of the foot within the shoe for more precise stability, depending on the terrain. Plus, it also looks super cool!
A convenient pocket provides space to tuck away the laces when tied so they don't catch or snag when running around tree roots or across uneven terrain.
The Mutants feature a 4mm Ortholite® Hybrid Mountain Running® Ergonomic footbed to balance comfort, reactivity and performance. Whilst a protective toe cap protects your toes from rugged rocks and tree roots.
A TPU stability element in the midsole runs from the heel to the forefoot helping to reduce torsion and increase stability on uneven ground and challenging mountain trails.
The ultra-sticky FriXion White sole uses an impact brake system to provide optimum grip on wet slippery terrain, scree slopes and with an impressive 6.5mm lug depth it offers excellent traction on muddy and soft ground. The rugged outsole is also AT Spike compatible, should you wish to run icy or snowy trails.
