What are the Aequilibrium Hike GTX?
The Aequilibrium Hike GTX are lightweight, waterproof boots that feature a reliable Gore-Tex® membrane. They're designed for hiking in mixed terrain, no matter the weather, making them perfect for unpredictable UK conditions. These boots are also free from animal products, making them a great vegan option.
What are they made of?
Upper: The upper is constructed with a synthetic, water-repellent fabric that encourages water to bead off the surface instead of soaking in, enhancing breathability to keep sweat build-up at bay. The fabric features an abrasion-resistant welt to increase durability and longevity in rugged environments.
Lining: An Oeko-Tex® certified Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort lining makes these boots 100% waterproof without compromising comfort, weight or air permeability, meaning sweat will still be able to escape, helping to regulate temperature when working hard. Oeko-Tex® certification ensures that the textile features no harmful materials, maximising both environmental and consumer safety. The lining is also bluesign® approved, meaning it's manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
Midsole: The midsole comprises PU foam with an anti-abrasion TPU film to provide ample cushioning and durability underfoot.
Insole: The La Sportiva Mountain Hiking 5mm insole is made from 10% recycled material to help reduce its environmental impact without compromising overall performance. These insoles provide extra insulation and maximise cushioning to help absorb shock and reduce impact when moving over hard, rocky terrain.
Sole: A classic Vibram® rubber tread with a PU foam lining helps to maximise traction and robustness. After years of use, if your boots are looking a little shabby, you can also get them resoled instead of buying a completely new pair, preventing them from going into landfill and saving some pennies, too!
What are their features?
The prominent, innovative Double Heel™ construction features double-wedge rear geometry, which helps to increase braking when moving downhill. It also allows the foot to roll more smoothly to help reduce muscle fatigue - ideal for longer distances.
A built-in 3D Flex System Evo™ in the ankle offers support on uneven terrain. It features a multi-directional hinge on the upper, which allows the ankle to move more naturally and freely without losing stability. This system also helps to enhance foot control and precision, providing a larger sole surface for ground contact, alongside an improved fit overall and a more secure fit in the heel.
An Impact Brake System™ is applied to the sole, designed to absorb more negative ground impact and improve grip, especially downhill. It features a unique lug pattern that encourages as many lugs as possible to touch the ground when you walk, giving any impact more room to spread and, therefore, absorbing more of the shock.
Laces are 100% recycled and set up in a classic configuration to make for easy fastening and volume adjustment.
