What is the Moraine Mid GTX?
The Moraine Mid GTX boots are mid-height walking boots with a functional, no-fuss design. Their Gore-Tex® waterproofing combined with a hybrid upper makes an ideal first hiking shoe, delivering optimum comfort, protection and breathability for trail adventures and walking in less technical terrain.
What are they made of?
The upper is crafted from oiled Nubuck leather and lightweight mesh, treated with a DWR (durable water repellent) which encourages water to bead off the surface of the boot instead of sinking in. Scarpa has selected premium quality Nubuck to create these uppers, promising reliability for years' worth of use. The mesh panelling helps to reduce weight and increase breathability to optimise temperature regulation and moisture management.
A Gore-Tex® lining delivers complete waterproof protection in a breathable package.
Minus the DWR, these boots are bluesign® approved, meaning they're manufactured in a way that is safe for the environment, workers and consumers. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, use reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
A Presa® sole offers traction on changing surfaces and is made with an exclusive compound formula specifically designed for the outdoor industry to give reliable underfoot performance and longevity.
What are their features?
A small rubber rand at the toe increases protection without adding excessive weight or bulk.
Activ Impact Technology absorbs negative impact from the ground, increasing shock absorption with every step for a smoother feel and helping to reduce foot fatigue.
An Activ Fit system turns subjective wellbeing into objective comfort by improving quality in performance, comfort, durability and versatility on different types of terrain. These systems are specifically designed for each gender (meaning men's and women's systems are different) based on the anatomy of the foot.
The RECCO reflector increases your safety tenfold by making you more searchable to rescuers in worst-case scenarios without the need for power or manual activation. RECCO® technology was initially designed in response to an avalanche tragedy and launched in 1983. It's a two-part system that enables rapid, directional pinpointing of your precise location with a harmonic radar, helping you feel more protected during extreme activities in remote environments.
