What is the Xenair Vest?
It's a lightweight, breathable, synthetically insulated gilet created to keep you warm and comfortable during various fast-paced outdoor activities. It uses body-mapped, dual-weight insulation and high-performance fabrics for optimal thermal performance in varied conditions.
What is it made from?
The Xenair Vest is created from Pertex Quantum Air Nylon outer, Recycled Nylon lining and PrimaLoft® Gold Active+ insulation.
Insulation: The Xenair vest uses the exceptionally clever PrimaLoft Gold Active+ synthetic insulation for warmth, which contains 55% post-consumer recycled material. This insulation features a body-mapped construction for optimal warmth and pack size. The torso and collar are filled with 60gsm, whilst the side and spine use 40gsm filling, allowing you to maintain warmth whilst providing optimal breathability for moving fast in the mountains.
Primaloft Gold Active+ is a clever synthetic insulation that provides ample warmth, even when wet. The ability to retain heat when wet is a huge advantage to synthetic insulation compared to down, alongside it being a vegan alternative. This insulation also uses a special fibre structure, allowing it to be incredibly breathable and help to regulate body temperature by balancing the body's microclimate when working hard. It's partly made from recycled polyester, which, though recycled, maintains performance and feel. This insulation does not migrate and has a four-way stretch to enhance flexibility and freedom of movement - perfect for climbing, ski touring, or even using hiking poles.
Fabrics: The outer fabric in the Xenair Vest is constructed from a lightweight 20D Pertex Quantum Air face fabric. Pertex® Quantum Air perfectly balances wind resistance and breathability, so you won't have to chop and change layers when you start to work harder. It's designed for intense, fast-paced mountain missions and is treated with a lightweight fluorocarbon-free DWR (durable water repellent) that encourages light rain and snow to bead off the material instead of soaking in; however, please note that this doesn't make it fully waterproof.
The lining on the inside is a 20D recycled nylon, which helps wick moisture away from your body to regulate your body temperature. It's exceptionally soft next to the skin and, being recycled, adds to this vest's great eco-credentials.
What are its features?
The Xenair Vest's armholes are semi-elasticated for added comfort and freedom of movement, ideal for outdoor or indoor climbing when you need extra wiggle room. A lightweight YKK® centre zip fastens the front of the jacket securely, with a lined chin guard at the top, helping to keep the neck warm when fully zipped.
A concealed chest pocket with a lightweight YKK® zip fastening is perfect for securely storing your phone whilst on the move. Two zipped hand pockets add extra room for carrying snacks and headphones. One of which doubles up as an integrated stuff sack with a practical harness attachment loop. Rab has added a handy lightweight rear hem adjustment with an anti-snag tether to finish the design for a customised fit. The anti-snag tether comes in handy to help prevent damage whilst tackling rugged terrain.
