What is the Airzone Active 26L?
It's a fully ventilated pack that prioritises comfort for done-in-a-day activities such as hill walking, hiking and trekking. The Airzone Active is the perfect daypack for the general hiker and outdoors enthusiasts who enjoy exploring the mountains at the weekend.
What is it made of?
This pack is constructed using 210D 6.6 Mini Ripstop material with HydroShield for extra protection against the elements. The ripstop is made of nylon and offers a high level of durability. It's a material specifically designed to resist tearing and ripping and, therefore, can endure bumps and scrapes from rough surfaces and rocky terrain.
HydroShield adds water resistance to the material, encouraging light rain and snow to bead off instead of soaking in. However, please note that this won't make it fully waterproof.
Which backsystem does it use?
It uses Lowe Alpine's AirZone Lite system, a highly ventilated, comfortable and simple design which has been taken and simplified from their larger packs. It uses a layer of mesh suspended around an inch away from the actual body of the pack, resulting in a gap which air can continuously pass through. This not only increases ventilation but stops items in the pack jabbing you in the back. The shoulder straps feature a similar mesh on the inside for added grip and comfort. Both the chest strap and lightweight hipbelt keep the pack securely in place during movement.
What are its features?
For a smaller pack, the Airzone Active is crammed full of features!
In terms of storage, it has a top pocket for more frequently used items and a front stash pocket for maps or wet gear you don't want to keep inside. An internal zipped pocket provides secure space for more valuable belongings like a mobile phone or wallet, while a designated key clip allows you to attach, you guessed it, keys to help prevent you from losing them in the mountains. The hipbelt has built-in pockets to provide places to stash hill snacks and energy gels that you can access without needing to take your pack off.
The main opening uses a zip fastening for security and easy use, and the main compartment itself provides plenty of space for clothing, climbing shoes and lunch. Stretch pockets on each side are perfect for bulky water bottles.
Alternatively, if you're a fan of hydration bladders, then you're in luck! This pack is hydration compatible and fits a water reservoir of up to 3 litres.
You can also attach walking poles when they're not being used with the secure TipGripper™ attachments.
To get rid of any dead space once the bag is packed up and ready to go, you can cinch in the pack with the side compression straps to help keep everything in place.
A whistle on the sternum strap will help you attract attention in an emergency, and light loops give you extra visibility after dark.
Finally, if the heavens start to open in the middle of your mission, this pack comes with its own rain cover for added weather protection, keeping your possessions inside safe and dry.
