What is the Muon 40?
The Muon 40 is a highly robust, streamlined 40-litre rucksack designed to provide comfort on long trails and rugged routes when hiking and trekking. Made using extremely abrasion-resistant yet ultralight materials, this pack perfectly balances durability and weight, allowing it to withstand the rigours of mountain trekking.
What is it made from?
The Muon 40 is constructed from an extremely durable, lightweight fabric called Spectra® Ripstop. This tough material comprises 75% nylon and 25% polyester, of which 85% of its content is from recycled materials.
Spectra® Ripstop Technology uses a super tough grid of polyethylene fibres woven into a solid yet lightweight 210 Cordura nylon. The fibres are made with a high molecular weight, making them 15 times stronger than steel and bullet-resistant materials. It's complete with a high UV resistance to help prevent any sun damage or deterioration when used regularly on exposed routes.
This technology brings a whole new level to technical fabrics, creating something incredibly abrasion, UV and water resistant while extremely lightweight - perfect for high altitude hiking in rugged environments and changeable weather conditions.
What backsystem does it use?
The Muon 40 uses the TRI-FLEX™ carry system, a lightweight back system with a shaped lumbar pad, wrap-around harness and supportive hip belt. It's designed to sit close to your back to enable complete freedom of movement and agility when carrying heavy loads.
What are its features?
The Muon 40 has a fixed back length that measures 19 inches. The hip belt is adjustable, so pull it tight! Hipbelts should lie on the hip bones to centre and balance the weight. A well-fitted hip belt will direct the weight down to your hips, putting less pressure on the back and spine, which helps prevent pain and discomfort from wearing the pack for long periods.
The main top-loading compartment features a simple roll top opening, allowing you to grab your kit quickly and easily while adding versatility to expand the pack with larger loads. Ultralight compression straps help stabilise the load and compress the pack as you work through your supplies throughout your journey. The lower compression strap also doubles as additional storage for items such as a sleeping mat.
The Muon 40 has plenty of storage options to help you stay well-organised during your adventure. A large front pocket and two side pockets constructed from breathable and stretchy mesh are great for storing additional layers, carrying drinks or even keeping wet kit separate from your other gear. Whilst two generously sized shoulder strap pockets offer storage for quick access items such as a mobile phone, GPS device and trail snacks.
Walking poles can be easily fixed to the outside of the pack for when you need to keep your hands free on the trail to enjoy a bit of scrambling. Finally, it's good news if you would like to use a hydration bladder, as there's space for a 3L water bladder and dual exit options, giving you some flexibility with your drinking hose setup.
