What is the Helium Expansion Baffle?
This is a useful accessory for Mountain Equipment down sleeping bags. The baffle is designed to expand the width of the sleeping bag by 13cm for a little extra room inside - an excellent accessory for fidgety sleepers!
What is it made of?
This baffle is constructed using Pure Duck Down insulation and an outer shell of 100% recycled Helium™ 20D with a PFC free durable water repellent (DWR). PFC free finishes are much more sustainable than regular treatments as they do not use chemicals harmful to the environment - a win for the more eco-conscious adventurers!
Insulation: 90-10 Pure Duck Down is used to fill and insulate the baffle, with a minimum fill power of 700. The down in this product also comes from a Down Codex® Audited Source, making it a much more ethical and sustainable option than lesser quality down on the market.
Can't quite catch the lingo? Here's a quick break down.
Fill power - Fill power measures the warmth and efficiency of the down, alongside its ability to loft/fluff up. A rating of 700 fill power means that 1oz of this down fills 700 cubic inches of space when fully lofted.
Down Codex® Audited Source - Having a Down Codex® Audited Source stamp indicates that there was no unnecessary harm caused when sourcing 100% of the down and that it came from an ethical, traceable source.
Outer: 100% Recycled Helium™ 20D - Helium™ fabrics are perfect for those who have weight and bulk at the forefront of their concerns. Their densely woven structure and fine denier yarns create a downproof, tear resistant and highly breathable layer with light water resistance.

This expansion baffle is designed to expand down sleeping bags in the Mountain Equipment range. It has two YKK® zips for easy attachment, and is also supplied with a lightweight stuffsack to keep it safe and protected when not in use.
This baffle is designed to help prevent cold spots at the main sleeping bag opening/attachment point when in use, filled with high quality down insulation for maximum warmth.
