What are the Eisfeld Advanced SO Pants?
These trousers are part of Mammut's Eiger Extreme Collection, which is developed from years of optimisation and endless testing, built to serve extreme environments and expeditions.
The Eisfeld Advanced SO Pants are softshell trousers that provide durable, breathable protection with maximum freedom of movement to tackle steep ascents and technical adventures in harsh conditions.
What are they made of?
The main softshell material comprises a blend of polyamide and spandex, which is highly durable and light for its strength. The spandex gives it a lovely stretch to enhance mobility and freedom of movement, perfect for challenging adventures, whether trekking, ice climbing, or mountaineering in rugged terrain.
These trousers also have Dyneema® inserts, made with polyamide and polyethene, for added reinforcement and abrasion resistance, allowing them to withstand bumps and scrapes against rough surfaces and jagged rocks. These inserts are strategically placed in high-wear areas to increase overall longevity, such as the seam edges that are likely to catch and tear against crampons.
Mammut SOFtech™ is added into the construction using layers of material, it enhances weather protection for varying conditions and climates. The material is extra stretchy and breathable, ensuring it doesn't hinder temperature regulation, comfort, and flexibility of the original fabric.
What are their features?
The wide waistband enhances the fit and gives more coverage and support around the midsection. You can adjust it from the outside. So, even if you're halfway along your route, you can still adapt it using the Hypalon hook and loop fasteners.
On the front is a concealed fly with snap buttons that are easy to use, even with numb fingers.
Two zipped climbing harness-compatible pockets on the front are perfect for smaller items like energy gels and snacks to keep you fuelled throughout your adventure. Being harness compatible, they don't get in the way of where your harness will sit when you're strapped in, giving you quick and easy access in case you need to grab something halfway up a pitch or whilst on belay duty.
The leg zipper pocket is secure and sits well out of the way, perfect for bulkier belongings as it allows you to move freely without anything digging in. This pocket has an integrated mesh cellphone pouch inside to ensure it's safely tucked away, giving you peace of mind it won't get dropped down a crevasse or crag edge.
The leg hem has a built-in gusset with anti-slip webbing that gives you extra room for flexibility. The gusset can be brought in with the zip, allowing you to remove any dead space if you want to adapt the leg to your activity and make it fit closer to the skin.
At the bottom of each leg, you'll find a hook that will secure the fit over mountain boots, helping to keep snow, water and debris from sneaking into the top. When it's not clipped in, you can tuck away the hook inside the trouser to stop it from catching on your toes when putting the pants on.
