The Black Diamond First Light Hybrid Hoody is a heavy, slow moving jacket for Bird Watching and Croquet. As you may have guessed, that's a bit of a lie. As the name suggests, it's designed for moving fast and light in alpine environments, keeping you warm, protected and comfortable during cold yet fast paced activities.
The insulation is taken care of my PrimaLoft's Silver Active Insulation. This synthetic insulation features a high warmth to weight ratio and will still maintain the majority of it's warmth, even while soaking wet. This insulation is also highly breathable, allowing you to move fast, sweat as much as needs be and to move as fast as possible without your jacket slowing you down. When you need to pack the First Light Jacket down, it will also compress to a surprisingly small size, taking up little room inside your pack. The inner of the jacket has also been given a wool and nylon blend fabric to wick away sweat. Merino Wool is naturally odour resistant and features the ability to control the body's temperature exceptionally well.
Black Diamond have given this jacket a NanoSphere coating to deal with just about any weather you can throw at it. This coating repels anything from water, mud, wind and even oil to keep you protected. This coating is added to the primary Schoeller stretch softshell fabric which is used throughout the jacket. Shoeller is stretchy, durable and breathable fabric most commonly used in pieces which need maximum breathability and comfort.
Increasing comfort even further are two underarm gussets to give you a greater range of movement. This is especially useful while climbing due to the flexibility you require. If you do choose to climb in this jacket, you'll appreciate the helmet compatible hood which can easily fit under a climbing helmet for greater protection.
Storage is taken care of by two zipped hand warmer pockets and a concealed zipped chest pocket for small items such as a phone, keys or change.
