Founded in 1981 as Moorhouse Engineering in Bethesda, soon to become DMM and move to more suitable premises in Llanberis in 1986, the company celebrated 30 years of manufacturing in 2011.

Born in a small workshop in Bethesda back in 1981, DMM Climbing has grown from a four-person startup to a world-class manufacturer with over 150 skilled staff based in Llanberis, right at the foot of Snowdon. What started as Moorhouse Engineering quickly became DMM—a name now trusted by climbers, mountaineers, and rope access pros all over the globe.

From the beginning, the mission was simple: build the best gear at the best price. No gimmicks, no shortcuts—just solid, reliable kit designed and made in North Wales. That same no-nonsense ethos still runs through everything they do today.

You'll find their hardware pretty much everywhere—whether it's DMM carabiners clipped to a trad rack in the Lakes or DMM climbing ropes running through an alpine anchor. Their gear doesn't just meet the standard, it often sets it. And that's thanks to a team that really knows their stuff—innovators, engineers, and climbers who use what they make.
