What is the Orbit Stretch Jacket?
The Orbit Stretch is a tough, comfortable and highly breathable softshell jacket for active mountain use. Despite its mountain intentions, it can be used for virtually any outdoor activitiy and will be one of those jackets you reach for time and time again.
What is it made of?
The Orbit is made from Montane's Chameleon fabric, a highly breathable, comfortable, stretchy and weather resistant double-weave softshell fabric. Unlike your traditional hardshell, the Orbit is far softer to the touch and super stretchy, making it perfect for active use in the mountains or on the trails. This doesn't replace a hardshell by any means, but if you're less concerned with weather protection and more with wind resistance and breathability, then it's unbeatable.
What are the features?
You've got a stretch-bound hood with rear elastication to fit snugly and securely, two mesh lined hand pockets which can be used to ventilate if you're not using them, stretchy lycra cuffs and an elasticated hem to seal in valuable warmth. Everything you need, nothing you don't.
Where does it fit in the layering system?
The Orbit is primarily designed to be used as a protective outer layer when moving quickly, however due to its low-profile design it can be worn under an insulated jacket when you stop to have lunch or while belaying.
