What is the Mythic Alpine Light?
The lightest jacket in the Mythic collection, this jacket is a super versatile, insulated jacket that uses both down and synthetic insulation. It's the perfect jacket for alpinism, outdoor climbing and scrambling or even everyday winter use. It's constructed in a similar fashion to a Rab Microlight Jacket - we'd call it the pimped out version.What is it made of?
Constructed with breathable Pertex® Quantum and filled with a mixture of synthetic and down insulation provides wearers with next level comfort that feels fantastic all day long. The insulation is body mapped to provide extra warmth to body parts that need it most, also offering a little less weight and bulk yet more breathability than hardcore pure down jackets.
Down Insulation: The jacket uses 900 fill power, R.D.S Certified European Goose Down, offering maximum loft (fluffiness) and insulation.
European Goose Down is fantastic quality down - it has larger clusters than Duck Down which improves the warmth to weight ratio. These clusters are made up of tiny feather strands that trap heat, which is why it's so important to get a quality jacket with a construction that allows its insulation to loft effectively!The down is treated with a Nikwax fluorocarbon free Hydrophobic finish, which adds light water resistance to the down itself.

Fill power - Fill power measures the warmth and efficiency of the down, alongside its ability to loft/fluff up. A rating of 900 fill power means that 1oz of this down fills 900 cubic inches of space when fully lofted. R.D.S - The Responsible Down Standard ensures that the down is sourced from happy birds who haven't been plucked and have been well cared for.
Hydrophobic - Hydrophobic down dries out and lofts quicker, resisting moisture from sweat that may build up as you're warming up inside the jacket. Fluorocarbon free Hydrophobic finishes don't use harmful chemicals that cause damage to the environment - a bonus for more eco-conscious adventurers.
Synthetic Insulation: The side and base of the hood, lower inner cuffs and shoulders are filled with Primaloft® Gold synthetic insulation. Primaloft® Gold offers the maximum warmth of any Primaloft® insulation. It is a woven synthetic sheet insulation with low water absorption, unlike down, and therefore performs better in wet conditions. Rab has strategically placed the Primaloft® Gold in high contact areas that are more likely to get wet, which is more functional and versatile in cold, changeable conditions and adds durability for those using the jacket on the rocks.
Outer Shell & Lining: The lining uses 10D Recycled Pertex® Quantum nylon ripstop, which contains incredibly fine yarns and has a tight weave to create a soft, windproof layer that helps improve the efficiency of the insulation by trapping more warm air inside.
The outer shell is coated in a fluorocarbon free Durable Water Repellent (DWR), which creates a light water resistance, helping to protect the down further. Similar to the Hydrophobic finishes, fluorocarbon free DWR's are much more sustainable than regular treatments, as they do not use any chemicals that harm the environment.
What are its features?
Similar to the Mythic Alpine, the Light version also has lightweight stitch-through construction, which offers less bulk and optimum mobility. Each baffle is relatively small, helping prevent down migration and keep an even spread of warmth across the jacket.
The hood, as previously mentioned, is filled with synthetic insulation, and has a part elasticated opening which feels snug around the face and is very effective and keeping the weather out. The elastic provides extra flexibility around the head, a fantastic feature for climbers and scramblers who need further protection on exposed routes whilst assessing their next move. A stiffened peak at the top of the hood helps direct rain away, so your face will thank you when the heavens open.
At the front, a YKK® centre zip fastens the jacket, which is really smooth and easy to use with gloves, or numb fingers. At the top of the zip, a fleece lined chin guard continues into the hood - it feels soft and silky against the skin, giving a really luxurious feel.The sleeves feel really natural and comfortable around the arms.
The sleeves' precurved shape and articulated cut adapt them to the resting arm's natural position and gives them more space to move around in action. Again, perfect for climbers and scramblers who need a jacket that offers a good level of freedom of movement to help them on more technical routes.
If you're big on trail snacks, then you'll be grateful for the two hand pockets that easily fit energy gels, bags of trail mix, or protein bars in, depending on how much of a feast you're planning. If you're a little less greedy, you should also have some extra space for valuables like a wallet, GPS or mobile phone, which will all be secured inside with a subtle YKK® concealed zip.
A single sided rear hem adjustment allows you to cinch in the jacket around the hips - perfect to keep the weather out and optimise the overall fit. The adjustment has an anti-snag tether which is more durable to withstand a beating on longer expeditions or in rougher climates.
The jacket comes in a lightweight stuffsack to pack away when not in use. Stuffsacks are literally made for stuffing! Don't fold away the jacket to pack it up - make sure you stuff it in the bag randomly. By doing this, the insulation is packed down differently each time, preventing creases from developing in the down and stopping cold spots from forming in the insulation.How does it fit?
The Mythic Alpine Light has a women's specific slim fit. It sits closer to the body without feeling too tight or restrictive. The slim fit helps maximise warmth and is beneficial if you want to add more layers over the top (for example, a shell jacket), as it offers less bulk than regular or loose fitting jackets.Features:
