What is the Taiss HS Hooded Jacket?

It's a versatile performance jacket with a balance of features that make it suitable for all seasons. Whether mountaineering or alpine climbing in the summer, or ice climbing and ski touring in the winter, the Taiss HS will keep you dry and comfortable in variable conditions.

What is it made of?

This jacket comprises Mammut's very own DRYTechnoloy™ Pro made of polyamide to provide lightweight durability. Mammut DRYTechnology™ Pro offers breathable windproof and waterproof protection with a Hydrostatic Head of 27,000mm.

The outer material is treated with a PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent) for reinforced weather resistance.

PFC-free DWR's are a much more sustainable approach to water repellent treatments compared to conventional methods, as they don't use per- or poly-fluorinated chemicals that can damage the environment.

The polyamide membrane is based on natural raw materials, earning its bluesign® approved status that ensures it's safe for consumers, the environment and the workers involved in producing it.

Mammut also works with FairWear to ensure safe, ethical working conditions in their factories, helping to protect workers' rights and being considerate and sustainable with their processes.

Inside, the shell is lined with polyamide elastane mesh that feels smooth next to the skin and offers enhanced freedom of movement.

What are its features?

It has a helmet compatible Single Pull Hood™ that can be adjusted both vertically and horizontally with, yep, you guessed it, a single pull - perfect if you have your hands full with gear or are in the middle of an ascent and need some quick relief from the weather. The hood is also labeled storm-proof, giving you more coverage without impeding peripheral vision, perfect for tackling steep, challenging ascents in harsh conditions.

You can also adjust the hem in a similar fashion, with a one-pull cord. Both the hood and hem have COHAESIVE® stoppers that are easy to use with one hand, chunky gloves or numb fingers.

The fastening at the front uses a two-way water resistant Aquaguard® zipper, ideal for extra ventilation or making a climbing harness more accessible.

The two front pockets are harness- and backpack-compatible, ideal for stowing away snacks and energy gels for a quick on-the-go pick-me-up. Cross-over access makes them easier to get in and out of, and water repellent zippers protect contents inside. There's also an internal zipper pocket for more valuable items like keys, a mobile phone or emergency cash.

Sleeves are preshaped to give you more flexibility and freedom of movement for technical activity and can be adapted using simple hook and loop fasteners. The jacket is built with High Reach Technology™, developed to help prevent the jacket from riding up and exposing skin when you're stretched out, keeping you fully covered from the elements at all times.

X-Vented underarm ventilation with water repellent zippers offers a quick solution to dump heat and balance body temperature. Simply undo the zippers until you've cooled down, and then fasten them back up when you're done.
