What is the Mantle Jacket?The Mantle is an ultra-warm, thick, comfy, wind-resistant fleece designed for virtually any outdoor activity, from countryside walking to scrambling.
What is it made of?The Key to the Mantle's warmth lies in its Cycloknit fabric. On the inside, this feels exactly like a 'normal' fleece (soft, stretchy, cosy), but the outer feels almost like a softshell jacket — this gives you the warmth and cosiness of a fleece but the wind-resistance of a softshell. To top it off, this fabric is made using 77% recycled materials — a nice little touch.
What are its features?It features a helmet-compatible hood with plenty of adjustment to seal it in around your head when not wearing a helmet and a two-way front zip so you can get it over a climbing harness. Storage-wise, you have two zipped hand pockets, one napoleon chest pocket and one inner security pocket. Lastly, dual-tether hem drawcords seal in warmth around your waist without creating an annoying loop that poles and axes can get caught on.
Where does it fit in the layering system?It can either be used as a heavyweight midlayer with a shell over the top or as a standalone piece when the weather is a little more friendly. Thanks to its wind-resistant outer, it works really well as an outer when just walking around town or taking the dog out for a quick wander.
