What is the Bield Down Hoody?
The Bield Down Hoody is a down filled hooded jacket reinforced with synthetic insulation in high-wear areas. It's durable, lightweight and versatile enough to wear for both outdoor and casual lifestyles and activities.
Whether hill walking in the Peak District or heading to work on a cold, frosty morning, the Bield Down Hoody guarantees warmth and cosiness all winter long.
What is it made of?
The jacket is made with bluesign® approved, 30D fibre-proof, plain weave polyester and filled with 600 fill power Duck Down with synthetic QuadFusion™ in high-wear areas.
Insulation: Haglofs has filled the jacket primarily with premium quality, hydrophobic 600 fill power duck down, which provides a fantastic level of warmth for its weight. The hydrophobic treatment gives it a water resistant coating, enabling the insulation to stay dry for up to 10,000 minutes when exposed to wet conditions. Pretty impressive! However, if the forecast predicts heavy downpours, you'll still need to pack a waterproof shell for extra protection.
The down is also RDS certified, ensuring that it has come from happy geese who have not been live plucked or mistreated.

QuadFusion™ synthetic insulation is placed in the shoulders and hood for reinforced warmth. Handy for when you're likely to wear a backpack or even get caught in a shower. Synthetic insulation is more durable than down and stays lofted when wet, perfect for areas of the jacket that are more exposed to the elements.
Materials: Polyester is incredibly lightweight and durable, so it can withstand regular use and a few bumps and scrapes if you're exploring more rugged terrain. It feels extremely smooth and soft on the skin, should you be wearing a t-shirt underneath, and is low bulk to allow the down inside to fully loft.
The face fabric is treated with a fluorocarbon-free DWR (durable water repellent) to enhance the weather protection and encourage light rain and snow to bead off the fabric.
Fluorocarbon-free treatments are much more eco-friendly as they don't use chemicals that harm the environment, unlike conventional DWR's.
What are its features?
As you may have already noticed, this jacket has an insulated hood that feels spacious enough to layer a thin midlayer or beanie underneath. The jacket is fastened with a centre zip on the front with an inner placket for extra insulation, preventing a cold spot at the entrance.
For storage, there are two hand warmer pockets fastened with zippers, perfect for smaller belongings like a mobile phone, earbuds, doggy bags or hill snacks.
The sleeves have elasticated cuffs to help keep the heat in without feeling tight or restrictive, making it easier to layer thick gloves or mitts underneath when the temperatures drop.
