What are the Kinetic Pants?
The Kinetic Pant are durable and stretchy waterproof outdoor trousers that deliver exceptional performance and comfort for various outdoor adventures in various conditions. Ideal for use both on and off the mountain, they're perfectly suited to winter mountain sports and high alpine adventures when the weather is not playing ball.
They boast next-generation Trizar® heat re-radiating technology for exceptional thermoregulation across the seasons and a 3-layer High & Dry waterproof membrane with an Empel permanent DWR for fantastic weather protection.
What are they made from?
The Kinetic pants use a strategic combination of durable and stretchy fabrics to create robust waterproof trousers that offer complete freedom of movement and exceptional comfort during higher-output activities.
The thighs and calves use a 40D ripstop Nylon with a two-way stretch to balance durability and breathability without any unnecessary bulk.
The seat and knees use a 70D four-way stretch Nylon fabric for an increased range of movement and increased abrasion resistance in high-wear areas, allowing these trousers to easily withstand scrapes and bashes from scrambling and negotiating rocky terrain.
A soft and breathable 20D jersey backer lining provides lasting next-to-skin comfort, making them ideal to be worn for long periods. The trouser's outer fabrics are PFA-Free and their lining is made from 100% recycled materials for added eco-friendly credentials.
The trousers are finished with Artilect's superb EMPE permanent DWR (durable water repellent) treatment for added water resistance, encouraging rain and snow to bead off the trousers instead of soaking in.
Empel DWRs use uniform polymers that individually wrap each of the fabric's fibres with a protective molecular bonded water-repellent shield. This creates a super-hydrophobic exterior to the material that provides 10 times more protection than regular DWRs and won't wear out or ever need to be reapplied as the water resistance is hyper-fused to the actual fibres of the fabric.
This impressive Empel DWR is hurricane chamber tested for reassurance that it can withstand the rigour of real-world use. This treatment also enhances the breathability and softness of the material, all while being water, solvent and PFA/PFC free! Oh, and to top it all off, it's also Oeko-Tex certified, making it a proven, more environmentally friendly option.
For complete waterproof protection, the Kinetic pants use fully taped seams and Artilect's proprietary High & Dry 3-layer membrane, which offers reliable, high-performance in varied conditions. This membrane uses the EMPEL permanent super-hydrophobic exterior as a first line of defence. Combined, it has an excellent hydrostatic head rating of 30,000mm and a superior 30,000gm/m2/24-hour breathability rating to ensure you are fully protected both from external precipitation, wind and cold and internal moisture buildup. All this is achieved whilst being free from any harmful forever chemicals such as PFA's, PFC's and ePTFE's, it's also Bluesign and Oeko-Tex approved for added reassurance.
This innovative High & Dry membrane also uses Trizar heat re-radiating technology for extra warmth, comfort and thermal management in cold conditions. Trizar is a certified space technology developed to protect spacecraft's during their re-entry into Earth's atmosphere by reflecting and re-radiating heat away from the surface.
Artilect uses this clever technology to increase the trouser's warmth in cold temperatures without increasing weight. It works by capturing and reflecting infrared body heat, spreading it out and re-radiating it back across the body, thus raising the temperature inside the trousers. Neat, right?
This thermoregulation significantly improves the overall comfort and performance of the trousers by working on the micro level, improving the trousers' breathability and moisture-vapour transfer rate.
What are their features?
The Kinetic Pants feature a comfortable waistband with good coverage and a built-in belt to keep your trousers securely in place so that they don't start to slip down during a steep climb when you need to be focused on the task at hand.
Thigh vents provide ventilation to the trousers allowing you to tailor the airflow depending on the conditions and activity. The trousers use YKK Aquaguard® zippers throughout for enhanced water resistance, protecting you and your belongings from adverse weather.
For storage, there are two easy-access zippered thigh pockets with internal device pockets and a tether loop to keep your mobile phone and GPS device as safe as possible while you're exploring the mountains.
Ridiculously robust 500D kick patches to the inside lower leg provide excellent durability for use with chunky ski, mountaineering boots and crampons.
Finally, these high-performance trousers are finished with internal boot gaiters for added protection from deep snow, allowing you to tackle your mountain ascent without getting wet boots or trousers.
