FJALLRAVEN VIDDA PRO PANTS: MOBILITY TESTWe gave these trousers a proper stretch test: lunges, squats, and the kind of awkward bends you find yourself pulling on the hill, and they passed with ease. Thanks to the stretch gusset through the crotch and inner thighs, they provide excellent freedom of movement. All feels more natural and comfy, without any of that stiff, restrictive pull you get from the other designs.
What are the Vidda Pro Vent Trousers?
A clue in the name, they're a well-ventilated version of the already popular Fjallraven Vidda Pro Trousers. The Vidda Pro Vent pants are incredibly durable, functional and versatile enough for almost any activity, whether hiking, trekking, doing a bit of bushcraft, or even working!
What are they made of?
These trousers mainly comprise Fjallraven's very own G1000® Eco.
G-1000® Eco is made using a blend of 65% organic cotton and 35% recycled polyester, a much more eco-friendly alternative to regular G1000®. Featuring recycled and organic textiles is certainly no disadvantage. This material is still incredibly durable and can resist abrasion from rugged, rocky terrain easily.
You can adapt G1000® materials to different personal preferences or climatic conditions using Greenland Wax. The wax allows you to customise the fabric's properties, such as wind and water resistance and breathability. When the weather begins to settle down, and you'd like to reduce the amount of wax applied, you can simply wash it out and start again.
Greenland Wax is easy to apply - you can literally do it anywhere! If you'd like to learn more about how to apply it correctly, check out our short YouTube tutorial by clicking here.
What are their features?
A highlight feature of the Vidda Pro Vents is the generous ventilation openings that run from the hips down to the knees. Sounds a little excessive, sure, but if you're working hard in humid, mild or even cooler conditions, these really make a difference! They allow you to dump heat quickly and dramatically enhance airflow to stop that sticky sweat build-up.
Storage is no problem with these pants either - you get two hand pockets, a knife pocket on the right leg, an axe loop on the waist, large leg pockets with buttoned flaps, including one with an interior pocket for small valuables like keys or cash.
Fabric reinforcements over the knees improve durability for camping and bushcraft, where you may find yourself kneeling for long periods.
You can also attach braces and gear using the assigned loops, which are reinforced to prevent them from tearing or snapping.
The knees are pre-shaped to ensure maximum mobility at the joints, making it comfier for stepping high, and have subtle openings that allow you to insert knee pads (knee pads not included).
A gusset at the crotch improves flexibility, taking the stress away from vital seams to help prevent any trouser-splitting accidents!
Button-strap adjustments at the end of each leg allow you to taper the fit around various footwear, and the boot hooks have now been redesigned to be easily replaceable, increasing the longevity of the design and keeping them in the loop for sustainability purposes.
Finally, they use an updated shape which is more inclusive and a regular fit that gives you plenty of room to move without being excessive.

Ventilation When You Need It Most Long days on the trail or working hard in the woods can quickly build up heat, which is where the hip-to-knee ventilation zips really earn their keep. Running down the outer thighs, they open wide to let excess warmth escape and keep the air moving. It's like flicking a switch from "boil" to "breathe," giving you instant relief on steep climbs or in warmer conditions. Watch Vidda Pro Ventilated Pants Review on YouTube Lock It Down at the Ankles It’s the small touches that make a big difference out on the hill. The adjustable leg cuffs mean you can tighten the trousers down over your boots when it’s wet and muddy, or open them up when you want a bit more airflow. Add in the boot hooks, which clip onto your laces, and you’ve got a neat way of keeping the hems in place so they don’t ride up or let grit, snow, or debris sneak in. It’s one of those features you don’t think about much—until you’re out there and realise just how handy it is.
How Does Vidda Pro Ventilated Pants Fit? The Vidda Pro Ventilated Trousers have a noticeably neater cut than the old classics, with Fjällräven's "Improved Fit" sitting a little slimmer through the leg while still giving you enough room to move. They feel well-tailored rather than baggy. Around the waist and hips, they fit true to your actual measurements, though if you're used to more generous sizing elsewhere, you may find it worth going up a size for comfort. Different leg lengths help keep things tidy around your boots.
