What are the Phase Pants?
The Phase Pants are waterproof and windproof over-trousers that use 3-layer Gore-Tex® Performance for reliable protection. Designed for lasting comfort in wet conditions, these versatile trousers are suitable for various outdoor adventures like hiking, climbing, mountaineering and more casual everyday use, walking the dog on wet and windy days.
What are they made from?
The Phase Pants are built using waterproof 40D 3-layer Gore-Tex® Performance, which is robust and lightweight. This durable fabric is breathable, low weight and allows the trousers to be easily packed and stored in your backpack for when the weather turns nasty.
Gore-Tex® Performance 3-layer has been developed to resist scrapes against rough surfaces and rocks whilst providing reliable protection against wet weather. It offers ample waterproof and windproof protection and comes with Gore-Tex's classic 'Guaranteed To Keep You Dry' promise. Though waterproof, it's highly breathable, helping to keep your body temperature regulated whilst allowing sweat to escape to prevent moisture build-up.
The fabric is coloured using solution dye technology in which the desired colour is added to the raw materials of the fabric. By adding the dye at this earlier stage, less water, chemicals, and energy are used, in turn creating less carbon emissions and harmful wastewater. The colour is also inherent throughout the yarn, which improves the fabric's colour durability when worn or washed (known as colour-fastness) -allowing you to keep enjoying your favourite waterproof trousers for years to come.
What are their features?
An elasticated waistband provides a secure and comfortable fit to the trousers, whilst an elasticated drawcord adjuster to the front allows you to dial in the fit, giving you peace of mind that your trousers won't slip down mid-way through a steep climb. The elastication on the hips also gives flexibility on fit if you are slightly between sizes. To the waist, you will also find brace hooks compatible with Montane braces, giving you more versatility for technical mountain missions.
3/4-length YKK Aquaguard zippers sit on the outer sides, with a two-way opening designed to provide excellent ventilation. For example, you could leave the bottom half zipped up and the top half unzipped to get more airflow around the legs. They also allow you to smoothly slide over chunky hiking boots and bicycle shoes if you need to quickly put them on in sudden downpours.
To finish, you'll find a snap adjuster at the hem that can adapt the fit around the ankles to accommodate different sizes and types of hiking or mountaineering boots.
